The Teaching Historical Racial Trauma (THRT) project brings together educators, historians, cultural scholars, social scientists, and community stakeholders committed to exploring how historical racial traumas, such as massacres, lynchings, riots, discrimination, and displacement, continue to shape society and education today. This collection of essays offers diverse theoretical and pedagogical approaches to teaching these difficult histories with care, critical engagement, and contextual understanding.<\/p>\n\n\n\n

From existential healing to critical literacy, and from public memory to instructional strategies, each essay invites readers to consider how we might responsibly and meaningfully teach traumatic racial histories in ways that foster empathy, resilience, and justice. While these essays stand alone in their contributions, they collectively advance the THRT mission to cultivate historically grounded, socially conscious, and trauma-informed approaches to education.<\/p>\n<\/section>\n\n\n\n
